A Quote

“Why does it matter if people cling to myths for solace? Because real-world problems such as climate change can only be solved by real-world thinking. Like it or not, the harsh reality is that nature doesn’t exist to serve humanity, and turning to myths that put humans at the centre of creation only distract us from appropriate actions.”

...appropriate actions which then in turn aim to place humans at the centre of creation.
Fixing problems like climate change, is placing humans in authority to subject nature to serve themselves, ultimately.

Similar goals isn't it?

Though, Christianity does not or should not place humans at the centre of creation but rather God as Grand Designer.

(I as a Christian am not against fixing our world and looking after it, many others would agree.)

No it would be cleaning up our own mess, taking responsibility for our own actions.

Genesis 1:26 - "And God said, 'Let us make a human, in our image, according to our likeness, and let them dominate the fish of the sea and the birds of the skies and the domestic animals and all the earth and all the creeping things that creep on the earth.'"

Genesis 1:28 - "And god, blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and dominate the fish of the sea and the birds of the skies and every animal that creeps on the earth.'"

My own Senator, who I did not vote for, flat out denies Global Warming happening based on his Christian beliefs. James Inhofe - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Inhofe

I didn't say all.

You are correct about dominion. Man has or should have dominion over nature...but ultimately for Whom?
